Hello, my name is George Jackson and this is my website that I have created to showcase the skills I have acquired throughout my 13 year lighting career. I am an entertainment lighting designer who loves working on all aspects of theater ,concert ,corporate , worship, and event lighting. I am also an adept programmer, fluent in GrandMA, Hog, ETC, and Avolite programming. I am highly skilled in drafting 2D/3D drawings as well as realistic renderings and pre-visualizations in Vectorworks, Wysiwyg, ESP Vision, 3DS Max, and Light Converse. In addition to these skills, I also work with various digital media programs such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash as well as simple coding in HTML and Javascript functions.

I started my career taking film classes at Valencia Community College in Orlando, FL. Eventually, I discovered theater lighting and fell in love with it. I finished with an A.S. Theater Degree and an A.A. Fine Arts Degree and quickly jumped at any job that I could find so I could start gaining experience. While freelancing all over town, I got an opportunity to work for big companies like Fourth Phase, Christie Lites, Universal Studios, the Orlando Shakespeare Festival, and Walt Disney World. I moved to Boston and lived there for almost 2 years, where I worked as a production technician/manager at High Output- a major lighting company in New England. I have also rediscovered my love for graphic design and computer animation. These skills have enabled me to add a presentation aspect to my designs. I graduated recently from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Theatre with a Digital Media minor.

Currently, I am the Lighting Director for Northland Church in Longwood, FL. I also program lights for the Orlando Magic during the regular season, and I am designing a show at the Orlando Repertory Theatre in the fall. In addition, I teach Advanced Stage Lighting at Valencia Community College every spring.

I hope you enjoy my site and please write to me if you have any questions or comments.
